This is in response to Bill Ross' letter, "Good Read." If Mr. Ross had taken the time to read Ms. Palin's book before critiquing it, he would have found the answer to his own question concerning the choice of the book's title on pages 318 and 319; quote: It was a CNN story, byline by Dana Bash. Palin's off script comments irk McCain aides. Several McCain advisors suggest they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue." A Palin associate however said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believed was a damaging and mismanaged roll out." ...more

Wow! Mr. Peria's letter was "right on," according to Mr. Ford. Right on what, the fringe of lunacy? To compare Obama and the United States to Hitler and Nazi Germany is idiotic and appalling! ...more

I must comment on Jim Robertson's letter. Jim, I hate to tell you but it is 2009; times have changed. It is not just America anymore, it's the world. Global economic situations shape the times. Hey, I miss Aunt Bea, Opie, Andy, Howdy Doody and The Cleavers, etc. ...more

How can anyone read Terry Collins' letter and not laugh out loud? To blame a president, left with a mess like he was, to turn it around in four and a half months is beyond me. Everything Mr. Collins complains about happened while his "boys," G. Worthless and The Grim Reaper (Cheney), were in office. Oh, doesn't the president have veto power over any bills that cross his desk? Thought so. ...more

In response to Jim Vokes' article "Stop Bush Bashing," get over it! If you love G.W. Bush so much, I'm sure he's got a room he can spare on his Crawford ranch for you, now that he bought that new house. Bin Laden had to have a new place to live after GW and his posse left the White House. Where do you think he's been hiding out all these years? So, G.W., using taxpayer's money, of course, bought Bin Laden the new house. Now that's humorous! ...more

I know I said I wouldn't write again but the letters you put in Saturday (Nov. 8,) "What Fools" and "Barack Obama" are two more reasons people in Highlands County are living in the Stone Age. These are probably some of the many, many, people who have had it so good these last eight years. These are the people, with 8x12 glossies of GW smirking into the camera, hanging on their walls. I do suppose that the "fools" who voted for "change" are sitting back and having a good laugh at the people who voted for Bush the third (McCain.) Time will prove us right. The only "fools" here are the ones who want to "stay the course." It is a shame to read such bigotry and hate in 90 percent of these letters! Oh the "fools!" ...more
